Agricultural Green Tour for Young Enthusiasts in the Mekong Delta

Mekolink proundly sponsored the Green Tour program, an initiative designed for passionate young alumni eager to explore sustainable agricultural practices in the Mekong Delta. This one-day tour provided participants with hands-on learning experiences, including a visit to Ech Op — an organic vegetable farm in Long Xuyen city, and a workshop on circular economy solutions for the region’s aquaculture sector.

On the program’s highlights was the workshop led by Dr. Chau Thi Da, whose research focuses on pangasius muddy disposal technology — an innovative apporach to reduce waste pollution in fish farming. This technology helps farmers minized environmental impact while enhancing sustainability in the local aquaculture industry.

This program was organised by Australia alumni who studied at various aspect of agriculture in many famous university in Australia. There is some gift from Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT Ho Chi Minh branch) to support for this connection program. The workshop also featured an inspiring presentation by Mr Huynh Huu Canh, a dedicated social worker who has overcome the challenges of blindness to empower others with disabilities. His powerful message encouraged participants to embrace resilience and perseverance, reminding them that despite physical limitations, life can still be fulfilling and meaningful. His story of determination and success deeply moved the audience, reinforcing the belief that hard work and a positive mindset can create a beautiful and purposeful life.


The Green tour was organized by a network of Australia alumni, who studied various agricultural disciplines at prestigous universities in Australia. Their shared vision of fostering sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship brought together experts, businesses, and young professionals for an enriching exchange of knowledge. The program was also supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) – Ho Chi Minh City branch, which provided gifts to strengthen alumni connections and community engagement.

As part of Mekolink’s mission to connect Australian alumni and encourage private-sector involvement, the tour welcomed participation from Kamyco Import-Export company and Tafimex Import-Export company. Their engagement in discussions and activities underscored the vital role of businesses in enhancing sustainability, supporting the local economy, and promoting responsible agricultural practices.

Through initiatives like the Green Tours, Mekolink continues to bridge knowledge, innovation, and colloboration to drive sustaible development in the Mekong Delta.
